CHESTER RED CROSS CONCLAVE DONATES £3000 to LOCAL HOSPICES
On 23rd March the Intendant General for the Red Cross order of Cheshire Rt. Ill. Knight. Chris MacDonald was pleased to present
to representatives of Claire House Hospice and Hope House Hospice cheques for £1,500 each from the Chester Red Cross Conclave No. 174.
The pictures show Rt.Ill. Knight Macdonald accompanied by Ill. Knight John Kilgallen and Ill. Knight Bill Tumath of the Chester Conclave
Red Cross No. 174 with Rachel Jones (Hope House Hospice) and Katie Cartwright (Claire House Hospice).
HUNTER STREET
Hunter Street was finally
demolished at the beginning of October 2007. The pieces of masonry specified in the
sale agreement were recovered and are now at Cheshire View. Unfortunately when
the original foundation stones were separated the time capsule was found broken
with all the contents missing. There was none of the broken glass in the
cavity, and from the discolouration of the remains of the capsule, it would
appear that the contents had been removed many years ago.
Chester City Council through the
Heritage Centre were able to advise that the capsule originally contained
copies of the London Times, the Cheshire Observer and Chester Chronicle, a plan
of the building, a copy of the Lodge circulars, a copy of the circular
summoning the special meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge for the day and signed
by all the officers and coins of the realm.
